Start date: February 1, 2017 / End date: July 31, 2019

The MedGUIDE kick-off meeting took place in Arnhem in February 2017. All project partners were present, and discussed and aligned the project activities. In the first phase of the project, the focus will be on user research, requirements definition and concept development.

The MedGUIDE project aims to improve the quality of life of seniors with dementia, support the network of informal caregivers, and to prevent reduction in the medication self-management capabilities of the seniors, all in order to prolong independent living. It will help reducing the over-treatment and under-treatment of dementia-related medications, archiving timely and proactive detection of drug related problems and distinguish their signals from dementia symptoms, detecting and “addressing” of noncompliance as well as lowering threshold exchange signals (treatment plan) between seniors, volunteer caregivers and healthcare professionals and processing them into personalized roadmaps. Additionally, MedGUIDE will provide healthcare professionals in the pharmaceutical chain with up-to-date data so they can provide appropriate medical care and support their elderly patients with early dementia according their needs and demands.
